Are you a

Mixed feelings

A year or so ago I started renting the first season of the popular show (though, now off the air) Gilmore Girls. At first I was taken with the witty dialogue, rather wholesome nature, and the bond between mother and daughter.

I’ve continued with the series and am now on season 6. If you’re at all familiar with the show you no doubt have noticed the numerous men in both Rory (the daughter) and Lorelai’s (the mother) lives. They certainly keep things interesting, even if I have to Wikipedia half the references in each show afterwards.

I could go on and on about the show and what I like and what I don’t. But one thing I can say for sure…I’m always wondering about the characters. What’s going to happen next in their life. Like any good drama, they keep things lively.

Sometimes I get really sick of everyone on the show, and no sooner does that happen than they do something to draw me back in. That’s why I have mixed feelings. Sometimes it’s up, sometimes down. Just like life. And even when I swear off the show, I always come back for more.

Sometimes the writers make me wonder if they’re on drugs, but on the other hand, the sign of a good writer is making the reader (or watcher) feel emotion (even if it’s negative…you wouldn’t want to cheer for a villian would you?)

Through the course of this show I’ve felt dozens of emotions. Everything from giddy joy to shock to surprise to disgust. Most of all, thankful.

Thankful that there’s a show that allows me to study the highs and lows in the lives of well written characters. And thankful that the show is over and I can rent one disc after the other without having to pause for commercials!
